Enviro-disc system for tertiary wastewater treatment

Disk Filters

The new Five Star Disk Filter is an innovative fixed-disk design that reduces operating costs and delivers high quality filtrate in minimum space - an ideal solution for a wastewater treatment plant upgrade where space is limited.

For new wastewater treatment plants, the Five Star Disk system is easily incorporated into a concrete or steel package plant design.

The Five Star Disk Filter is designed as a continuous operating system that utilises a fixed disk and a rotating backwash system controlled by a PLC or relay control panel. All internal or submerged components are corrosion resistant stainless steel or non-metallic materials.

Use of the fixed disk design reduces overall horsepower and permits removal of each individual disk while the filter remains in operation. The filter disks remain fixed while the rotating center shaft supports the backwash arms, and serves as a header for removal of solids from the filter. As the beginning of the timed backwash cycle, which is initiated by head loss across the filter, electrically actuated valves segregate the backwash header and clean the filter disks on that portion of the header. This insures complete cleaning of the filter cloth while minimising the rate at which backwash water is returned to the treatment facility.

Performance of the Five Star Disk Filter is second to none. The cloth is capable of solids capture down to 10 micron without having to build up a filter mat of require any run in time. The two layer cloth allows for complete leaning, utilising filtered water from inside the disk. The filter cloth is supplied as a sealed bag that can be replaced and re-installed in a matter of minutes, all while the filter continues to function without interruption.

The Five Start Disk Filter can be designed into a concrete structure (supplied by others), pre-fabricated carbon steel with two-part epoxy coating, or stainless steel tanks. The Five Star Disk Filter has a unique advantage incorporated into its design that allows filtrate sampling from each disk individually, as well as being able to remove an entire disk from the system without without filter shutdown. The Five Star Disk Filter design also eliminates rotating seals insuring filtrate quality, guaranteeing no cross connection between influent and filtrate and reducing maintenance.

The system is an approved California Title 22 machine engineered as a continuous operating system allowing cleaning and sampling without filter shutdown. The filter cloth is capable of solids capture down to 10 micron.

This system is ideally suited for tertiary filtration; water reuse; process streams; surface water treatment and municipal and industrial wastewater treatment applications.
